On November 24, Deutsche Grammophon will release a special, live concert performance on DVD entitled, 'Sting: A Winter's Night... Live from Durham Cathedral'. Recorded in HD and produced by Universal Music Classical Management & Productions (UMCMP), in association with Thirteen for WNET.ORG, the program will premiere on PBS's Great Performances series on Thanksgiving night, Thursday, November 26 at 9 pm EST (checking local listings). International broadcasts are planned for later this year, with further air dates to be announced locally in each country...

Thanksgiving weekend broadcast highlights include - a performance by Sting recorded at the Durham Cathedral, near his hometown of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in Northern England. The performance will include songs from his latest release, 'If On a Winter's Night...'. Sting's performance features the singer joined by 35 guest musicians, and songs include traditional music, such as 'Gabriel's Message,' 'Balulalow,' and 'Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming,' as well as several original compositions by Sting. Sting has used his latest visit to Brazil to urge the government there to listen to the concerns of indigenous peoples over a proposed new hydro-electric dam in the Amazon.

While culling source material for "Winter's Night" - which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 139,000 copies since its Oct. 26 release, according to Nielsen SoundScan - Sting found inspiration in everything from a 14th-century carol ("Gabriel's Message") to traditional lullabies and poems.
